Sally Mulhern: "Estate Planning to Die For: 10 Milestones for Women" 

 

Join SWN member Attorney Sally Mulhern as she shares 10 estate planning milestones that each of us will face during our lifetime, and what we need to do about them.  Sally will explain:

·       How to avoid the expense, delay, and public nature of probate

·       Ways to minimize federal and state estate tax

·       Why retirement accounts are so heavily taxed at death

·       Options for intergenerational transfer of wealth

Sally received her law degree in 1982 from Cornell Law School, and her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Boston College in 1979.  She is a founding partner in the law firm of Mulhern & Scott PLLC, with an office in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Sally concentrates in sophisticated estate planning techniques and works nationally with some of America’s most notable families. 

She is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and in 2016 Sally was selected by her peers as NH Magazine’s “Lawyer of the Year for Trusts and Estates.” She and the law firm of Mulhern & Scott have consistently received the “Best Lawyers in America” designation from US News & World Report.

Sally speaks nationally and internationally on estate planning matters and has shared the podium with many preeminent financial and political leaders.  She is regularly quoted in the regional and national press, including CBS MarketWatch, The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswire

She is a fellow of the President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW), where she was co-Chair of the Development Committee for three years and founded the planned giving program. 

Sally is the author of “Estate Planning To Die For®:  An Insider’s Guide For Financial Professionals,” which has earned rave reviews from industry leaders, and is currently being revised for its 6th edition. 

She lives in Portsmouth with her husband, David.  Her oldest son is a financial advisor in London, but more importantly the father of Sally’s two grandchildren, Violet (7) and Winston (5).  Her youngest son, James, joined the law firm in 2020 after graduating with top honors from Harvard Law School.
